Gerardo
Machado (1871-1939) was the youngest general in
the Cuban War of Independence and the fifth president
of Cuba (1925-1933). His presidency ended when,
after several years of unrest and increasing opposition,
Machado was forced into exile in 1933. The Gerardo
Machado y Morales Collection contains correspondence,
financial records, documents, and photographs
of Machado and his family in their years of exile
from Cuba.
